At Caribou, I hung out with Amber and her Mom. Afterwards I went up to out new office to check on the painters, then I went back to Amber's apartment to get her (dang) quesadilla maker. On the way to her apartment, I decided (for no reason) I wanted a bonsai tree. So we hopped in my car, and went to the nursery to see if they had them. On the way there, there was an Asian guy selling them by the side of the road! So we stopped there, and inquired.
He had small trees for $20, medium for $30 and large for $40. It was obvious he wanted to make a quick sale when I told him I didn't have $20 in my wallet to which he instantly replies "How much do you have?"
DING DING DING, we know know that he can be talked down.
We told him that we'd go to the bank to get some cash (and to the nursery to see if they had any). The nursery didn't have any bonsai trees, so we went to the bank and got $20. I gave Amber the $20 and $2 that I had in my wallet and told her to work her magic. She once talked a street vendor selling a Folex from $120 to $40, which is cool.
We drove back to the Asian guy and Amber talked him down to $22 for the medium tree in about 4 seconds.
I haven't decided how I want to shear it, I've looked at a few bonsai tree websites, but I haven't gotten any ideas yet. I also have to name him, so I need a decent name.

You've gotta have skills - computer skills, swindling skills.I'm just happy when other people can see me in action because sometimes when I tell stories of talking vendors down from their original asking price people look at me like I'm some sort of renegade. Bartering is just another art that I've honed and I'm thankful when I can share it with others.
